Jarvis J. (Hickenbottom) Malcom

Jarvis J. Malcom, 72, of Charleston, Illinois went to her heavenly home Friday, December 30, 2022 at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, Illinois. A private graveside service will be held at Washington Street Cemetery in Casey, Illinois. A Celebration of Life at Family Worship Center in Charleston will be held at noon on Saturday, January 21st, 2023. Memorials in her honor may be made to Choices Pregnancy Center or to Standing Stone Community Center and left at the visitation/service or mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL  61920.

Jarvis was born June 19, 1950 in Charleston, the daughter of Thomas Hugh and Illa (Furry) Hickenbottom. She married Keith D. Malcom on August 19, 1968 in Charleston, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on March 30, 2013. She is survived by her two daughters, Shanan (Bill) Strode, and Amanda (significate other, Jeremy) Malcom; son, Travis Malcom; three grandsons, Conner Strode, Navy Hospital Apprentice Kasey Strode, and USMC Lance Corporal Cody Strode; two sisters, Jane Ann Prather, and Joyce Hickenbottom; and one sister-in-law, Penny (Terry) Allen. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and an infant brother. 

Jarvis graduated from Charleston High School class of 1968. She owned her own cleaning service for several years and was a member of the Enon Baptist Church. She loved to attend the Covered Bridge Festival and the Newport Antique Auto Hill Climb. She enjoyed the beauty in her flower gardens, especially her iris', daffodils, and tulips. For many years she grew and sold a large variety of garden mums. Her true enjoyment was time spent with family, grandsons, and friends. Her kind and generous spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
