FAIRGRANGE – Janice Sue Boyd, age 89 of Fairgrange, Illinois, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home with loving family at her side on Tuesday, September 15, 2020. There will be no public services and her cremated body will be laid to rest in Roselawn Cemetery at a later time. Those wishing to honor her memory with a charitable donation may do so to Lincolnland Hospice, the Sarah Bush Lincoln Cancer Center, or Christ First Church. Janice was born in Fairgrange on December 8, 1930, a daughter of the late Chalmer and Lena (Ritchey) McClure. In July of 1948, she married the love of her life, Jack Boyd and they have shared 72 years of marriage. In addition to her loving and devoted husband, left to cherish their many memories are her sons, Dr. Jerry L. Boyd and wife Melissa of Charleston and Jeff Boyd of Jacksonville, Florida; three grandchildren, Dr. Sara Boyd of Virginia, Justin Boyd (Anna) of Manhattan, New York, and Jessica Standfield (Mike) of Florida; two great-grandchildren, Autumn and Gabe Standfield; a nephew, Michael Madlem of Charleston and a niece, Melody Madlem of Washington. Janice was preceded in death by two sisters, Norma Stanford and Katherine Madlem; a niece, Rebecca Sandefer; and a nephew, William David Stanford.
Janice served her fellow Seven Hickory Township residents as their elected Clerk and Supervisor. She was also a floral arranger with Lawyer Richie Florists for many years. Janice was a long-time member of First Christian Church (now Christ First Church) and as a woman of faith her Christian values guided her life. As a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Janice’s unconditional love and devotion for her family was undeniable.
Janice’s family would like to take this opportunity to thank those at the Sarah Bush Lincoln Cancer Center, Dr. David Winograd and Lincolnland Hospice for their compassionate care. A special thank you to Diana Groff for the exceptional day-to-day care provided to Janice.
