Over many years he bought and sold Purebred Shorthorn and Polled Shorthorn Cattle throughout the Provinces of Canada.

Harold was a devoted Christian and member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Throughout his life he cherished his family and friends. When his children were young, Harold was an active leader of local 4-H activities and loved working with the youth. He was an excellent cook and loved preparing big holiday meals for his family and friends, with Thanksgiving being his favorite. He had a love for gardening and buffet style restaurants. Friends of his children were always welcome in his home, and there was always a place for them at the table.
