Georgia Hicks

CHARLESTON, IL – Georgia Louise Hicks, age 54, of Charleston passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.  No services are planned at this time. Memorial donations in Georgia’s honor may be made to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis and mailed in care of Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, Illinois 61920.

Georgia was born on June 14, 1967, in Banbury, England to James William Hicks and Eunice (Clack) Hicks. She is survived by her parents, Retired SMSGT James William Hicks and Eunice Hicks; her children, Laurence Saxon of Mattoon, Illinois, Ashley (Chris Schulze) Saxon of Lynn Creek, Missouri, Naomi (Jordan) Saxon of Charleston, Illinois, and Joseph Saxon of Bloomington, Illinois; her significant other, Bill Kearney, also of Charleston; her beautiful grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Caleb Saxon, Eliot Saxon, and Taylor and Magnus Schulze; sisters, Caroline (Steve) Smith and Rosemary (Christopher) Lay; brother Damon (Stephenie) Hicks; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  Georgia was preceded in death by a nephew, Brenden Lay.

Georgia was a 2001 graduate of Oxford Brookes University with a degree in midwifery.  She was a creative soul who enjoyed handicrafts, as well as larger DIY projects. She had a great appreciation for humor, particularly sarcasm, and enjoyed working with children.  Her favorite activity was visiting with family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren.
