Drusilla Gordon Brandon Obituary

DANVILLE, IL – Drusilla M. (Sanders) Gordon Brandon, age 68 of Danville, Illinois and formerly of Mattoon, Illinois, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at her home and in the comforting presence of her family.  Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston, Illinois.  A Graveside Service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston with Pastor Kent Conover officiating. 

Drusilla was born June 18, 1952 in Humboldt, Illinois a daughter of Donald and Gladys (Hilligoss) Sanders.  She married Anthony Brandon on December 21, 1986 in Danville, Illinois.  She leaves behind Anthony, her loving and devoted husband of 34 years; her mother, Gladys Sanders of Neoga, Illinois; three children, Jeffrey E. Gordon of Ashmore, Illinois, Jamie D. Gordon and wife Melissa of Charleston, Kari C. (Gordon) Cox and husband Brad of Lerna, Illinois; six grandchildren, Michael C. Sanders, Brittani R. (Sanders) Enlow and husband Matt, Sidnee S. (Gordon) Davis and husband Chris, Kratan A. Cox, Keyton E. Gordon, Allen M. Gordon; six great-grandchildren, Kale’a, Elaina and Liam Davis, Clara and Penelope Enlow, and Corbin Sanders; her brother, Durwin Sanders and wife Marge of Mattoon, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her father, Don Sanders; three sisters, Doris Lloyd, Donna Rebelsky and Diane Brooks; a son, Michael R. Sanders; and three nephews, Matt Rebelsky, Robert “R.J.” Greer, and Freddie Sutton.

Drusilla retired in 2008 after working for 19 years as property manager for Lake Forest Apartments in Danville.

Dru, as she liked to be called, loved life.  She liked to sing, was a collector of clowns and owls, enjoyed traveling with the beach being one of her favorite destinations, and was known to have quite the green thumb.  Most importantly she loved her family.  She enjoyed cooking for them in preparation for family gatherings or to celebrate special occasions.  Dru was dearly loved by her devoted family and will truly be missed.

Dru was a member of the Salvation Army Church in Danville and memorials may be given to the Danville Salvation Army and mailed in care of Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL  61920.
