CHARLESTON, IL – Denise Lynn McCammon, age 64 of Charleston, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 while at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until noon on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston.  The Funeral Service honoring and celebrating her life will begin at noon on Wednesday with Pastor Matt Philbrick officiating.  Burial will follow in Cherry Point Cemetery in Chrisman, Illinois.  It is requested that charitable gifts in her honor be made to the American Heart Association or to a local food pantry.  Gifts may be mailed in care of Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL  61920.

Denise was born May 6, 1956 in Paris, Illinois, the daughter of LB and Agnes (Stultz) Kindred.  She married David McCammon on May 11, 1974 in Charleston.  She is survived by David, her loving and devoted husband of 46 years; her daughter, Nichole “Nicky” McCammon and boyfriend Josh Cassiday of Ashmore, Illinois; three brothers and their families, Dean Kindred and wife Phyllis of Great Falls, Montana, Charles “Chuck” Kindred and wife Ruby of Chrisman, Illinois and Douglas “Doug” Kindred, Sr. and wife Mary of Hume, Illinois.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother and his wife, Richard “Dick” and Ruth Ann Kindred.

Denise had been employed with the former Grimes Dodge dealership in Charleston and was currently employed with J.J. Collins.  She held membership with the Women of the Moose Charleston Chapter 1175. 

Denise loved her work, her family, her friends, and living the simple life. She was a generous and gracious hostess and always enjoyed entertaining.  The many activities which she enjoyed such as camping at 21 Guns Campground near Martinsville, Illinois, riding ATV’s, cookouts, and good conversation around a campfire always included those near and dear to her, blessing them with a legacy of wonderful memories. The joy, love, laughter, and friendship that she enjoyed with so many will truly be missed, and they will forever hold dear the memories of special times shared.
