Dale Hildebrand Obituary

CHARLESTON, IL – Dale Lee Hildebrand, age 80 of Charleston, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020 while at Arbor Rose of Charleston.  His earthly body will be privately laid to rest on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Zoar Cemetery, located north of Mattoon in North Okaw Township.  Charitable contributions in his memory may be made to Zoar Primitive Baptist Church or to Harbor Light Hospice and mailed in care of Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL  61920. 

Dale was born December 25, 1939 in Charleston and was the son of Lawrence and Florence (Poulter) Hildebrand.  He married Evelyn (Janes) on November 14, 1970 in Charleston.  Surviving is Evelyn, his wife of 50 years; three sons and a daughter, Bob (Janie) Hildebrand and Greg Hildebrand of Mattoon, Illinois, Kevin (Kelly) Cisney of California and Cindy McGrady of Charleston; a son-in-law, Matheu Wohltman of Charleston; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bonnie Coffey of Mattoon.  He was also close to Evelyn’s family which includes his father-in-law, Eugene Janes of Mattoon; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Don Janes of Charleston, Ruth (Bill) Fuqua of Neoga, Illinois, Carolyn (Denny) Wilson, Harlan (Brenda) Janes and Martha (Ed) Waggle, all of Mattoon.   In addition to his parents Dale was preceded by a son, Steve Hildebrand; two daughters, Pennie Summers and Kimberly Wohltman; and a brother, Charles Hildebrand.

Dale was a 1958 graduate of Charleston High School and an employee of Moore Business Forms in Charleston for over 33 years.  He later worked for E & L Environment.  He was a member of Zoar Primitive Baptist Church.  Dale enjoyed hunting and fishing and adding another piece to his collection of knives and guns.  His family, friends, and former coworkers share many fond memories of Dale and will miss his presence in their lives.
