Alesia S. Grigg

Alesia S. Grigg, age 71, of Charleston, IL (formerly of Casey, IL) went to her heavenly home at 3:07 a.m. on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. She was born September 4, 1952 in Victorville, CA; the daughter of Harry Ronald Davis and Mary Lou (McGinness) Davis.   

Survivors include her children, Chris James Doherty of Charleston, IL and Ashley Kae Bailey (DJ) of Charleston, IL; granddaughter, Monroe Bailey of Charleston, IL; siblings, Angela Davis of Casey, IL and Jeff Davis (Rhonda) of Toledo, IL; nephew, Zach Davis (Angel) of Casey, IL; nieces, Megan Roberts (Sean) of Westfield, IL and Rachel Eck (Merlin) of O’Fallon, IL; six great nephews; and four great nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Rodney Davis. 

Alesia was a 1970 graduate of Casey High School. She continued her education at Eastern Illinois University where she earned a Master’s in Psychology. Alesia worked as a school psychologist for Paris Union School District #95 and Eastern Illinois Area of Special Education (E.I.A.S.E.) in Charleston, IL. After retirement, she continued to work part-time sharing her talents and love for people.

Alesia was a faithful member of the Charleston Baptist Church and served as the assistant treasurer. She also served as secretary treasurer for the Coles County Habitat for Humanity. Alesia was also a member of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association in Coles County. She cherished spending time with her children.  Alesia genuinely loved helping people at every opportunity. She enjoyed gardening and growing flowers. Traveling was another passion of hers and she adored taking the train on her trips.

Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, November 6, 2023 at the Charleston Baptist Church with Pastor James Summerlin officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday prior to the service at Charleston Baptist Church, 2800 University Ave., Charleston, IL.  Inurnment will be at a later date in the Washington Street Cemetery in Casey, IL.
