CHARLESTON, IL – Lucy Good, age 85 of Charleston, peacefully passed and was reunited with her husband on Tuesday, July 21, 2020. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Chapel in Charleston with her Memorial Service following at 1:00 p.m. Inurnment, attended by her family, will be in the Newman Cemetery in Newman, Illinois. Memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and may be left at the visitation/service or mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL 61920.
Avis Lucille Craig was born October 5, 1934 in Chrisman, Illinois and was one of ten children born to Archie and Reta Faye (Newport) Craig. Lucy was a 1952 graduate of Chrisman High School and married Bert Lee Good on September 20th of that year. They were married 66 years prior to his death on March 26, 2019. Surviving are her three loving and devoted daughters, Judy (Chuck) Rutan of Trophy Club, Texas, Janet (Jack) Menser of Ashmore and Linda (Ken) Strange of Charleston; six grandchildren, Jeff Rutan, Jon (Leanne) Rutan, Kara (Rick) Metzger, Chris Lee, Ryan (Brittany Taylor) Strange and Chad (Laura) Strange; two step-grandchildren, Josh (Alana) Menser and Nicki (Nick) Reiser; and nine great-grandchildren. Lucy is still survived by four sisters, Rosalee Krabel of Brocton, Illinois, Betty Kraemer of Paris, Illinois, Elsie (Elton) Ingram of Chrisman, Illinois and Joann Lacy of Rancho Cucamonga, California; a sister-in-law, Marlene Craig of Griggsville, Illinois and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded by an infant brother, a sister, Mary Lou Krabel, and three brothers, Donald, Jim and Joseph Craig.
Lucy was a sales associate at the Charleston Wal-Mart for more than 15 years. She was formerly a member of the Women of the Moose Charleston Chapter 1175 and was a long time member and former officer of the Women’s International Bowling Congress (WIBC). Lucy shared her interest and love for bowling with many of her family members. She was also an excellent seamstress, enjoyed various crafts, and had a fondness for certain collectibles. The love and devotion that Lucy gave her family will always be treasured as they reflect upon their many memories of wonderful times shared.
